I've been scammed
If you've become a victim of fraud, don't panic. There are steps you can take to protect yourself and potentially recover your money.
Act as soon as possible!
The sooner you act, the better the chance of successfully recovering your money. With crypto assets and online scams, time is critical – scammers move funds quickly.
What to do step by step
Stop all communication with the scammer
Do not provide any further personal information, passwords or money. Do not reply to the scammer's messages – any further interaction could harm you.
Secure all evidence
Save everything that could serve as evidence:
- Screenshots of conversations, emails and websites
- Transaction and payment confirmations
- Crypto wallet addresses, IBAN numbers, phone numbers
- URLs of fraudulent websites
Contact your bank
If you paid by bank transfer or card, contact your bank immediately. In some cases it's possible to stop the payment or initiate a chargeback.
File a criminal complaint
Visit your nearest police station and file a criminal complaint. Attach all the evidence you have gathered.
Report the scam on ScamNemesis
Fill out our scam reporting form. We'll add your report to our database and alert the community. We can also help you with next steps.
Consider a professional investigation
For larger amounts (over 1,000 €), we recommend using our investigation services. An express investigation for 150 € provides a case analysis and recommendations within 48 hours.
Watch out for further scams
After a scam, other scammers may target you with promises of money recovery.
Fake recovery companies
Never pay upfront for a promise to recover your money. Legitimate services explain the process before payment.
Guaranteed money recovery
No one can guarantee 100% recovery. Be cautious of promises that sound too good to be true.
Unsolicited contact
If someone contacts you whom you didn't reach out to first, be very cautious.
Payment in cryptocurrency
If someone demands payment for recovery in cryptocurrency, it's almost certainly a scam.
